Library Card Policy

An outline of how to acquire a library card and the rules surrounding their use.

How to get and use a Library Card

A patron must show proof of current residency (such as a driver's license, utility bill, in order to obtain a new library card. The card costs 25. per family or Indvidual.  A parent or guardian's signature is required for all children under the age of 17.  The library will not knowingly have books, events or presentations that are not age appropriate.  An approval policy to give permission for a child to check out any book is available for parent or guardian to sign.  If a parent has concerns about what their child reads, they may call and speak with a librarian.  All materials are checked out for three weeks.   They may be renewed at any time by phone or in person and by e-mail.  Patrons will be required to pay for lost or damaged books.

If the materials are not returned in a timely manner, the library card will be cancelled, and a bill will be sent for the cost of the materials.  All library privileges including internet usage will be denied for the entire family until the overdue materials are returned or the bill has been paid.

A patron's signature on the card shows that they agree to follow all library rules.  If patrons do not follow these rules the library reserves the right to cancel any cards. Patrons will be responsible for books they leave in the drop box. If the book is not found in the drop box, the patron must pay for the replacement.
